Nellore (Nelluru) is a city in Nellore district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located on the banks of the Penna River in Nellore mandal of Nellore revenue division. History

Nellore existed from the times of the Mauryan empire and was ruled by Ashoka in the 3rd century B.C.
